2020 3-Coin Standard Gold Proof Sovereign Set

This is the 2020 Three Coin Standard Proof Sovereign Set. The set includes a full sovereign, half sovereign and quarter sovereign, all struck to a proof finish. The coins feature a special cypher mint mark on the reverse. This is to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the death of King George III.

The proof quarter sovereign is not issued individually this year, and is only available as part of the 3-coin, 4-coin or 5-coin sovereign set.

This is the only 3-coin sovereign set to be released in 2020. The Royal Mint are no longer producing the premium 3-coin sets. The sets have a mintage of just 750.

The Modern Sovereign

The modern sovereign was introduced in 1817 and has been issued most years since. The coins continue to be highly sought after by investors and collectors alike.

Proof Coins

These proof coins are struck to a much higher standard than bullion coins.  The blanks are struck up to 6 times each in order to give the coins the very best finish - meaning even the quarter Sovereign has an incredible amount of detail for such a small coin.

These 3 coin sets are the perfect gift to mark a special occasion or anniversary in 2020.

Obverse

The obverse of the coins feature the Jody Clark fifth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

The text reads:

ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REGINA FID DEF

Reverse

The reverse shows the iconic St. George and the Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci. This design has been used since 1817 on the reverse of most dates of Sovereigns, with a few exceptions. The Royal Mint have digitally remastered them using the original tooling.

To the left of the date you can find a royal cypher mint mark. This commemorates the 200th year since the death of King George III.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.

If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item, it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes; therefore, some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.
